Every election is special if you care enough and more in today's ELECTIONS NEWS:
HOUSE
- CA-25: That Man In the White House is interfering, complaining that some in-person voting centers are being added. This was partially at the behest of local GOP officials, and of course, Trump's previous complaint was that mail voting is unfair. | Elsewhere, a good summary of the race - Dems are trailing at this point, but even if the GOP wins in the special, there's a good chance that reverses in November.
- IA-04: Chamber of Commerce backing Rep Steve King's primary opponent, Randy Feenstra, meaning Feenstra should have plenty of cash. My vibe is that King loses the primary.
- NM-02: The GOP primary to take on freshman Dem Torres Small is getting very ugly.
- CA-10: GOP nominee Howze discovered to have a history of racist Twitter posting.
- CA-11: Rep Mark DeSaulnier [D] finally released from the hospital after nearly two months convalescence after developing pneumonia.
SENATE
- IA: PPP poll has GOP incumbent Ernst up 43-42 on likely Dem nom Greenfield. | There's been very little polling here, but the party arms and their associated PACs are treating this seriously, with plenty of ad time already reserved, so people seem to believe this will shape up to be a close one.
- NC: Civiqs poll has Dem Cunningham up 50-41 on GOP incumbent Tillis.
- CO: Keating Research poll has likely Dem nominee Hickenlooper up 54-36 on GOP incumbent Gardner.
- MA: YouGov poll of the Dem primary has Kennedy up 44-42 on incumbent Markey.
- TX: UT-Tyler poll of the Dem primary has MJ Hegar up 32-16 on Royce West - those are really high undecided numbers. Both candidates performed similarly against GOP incumbent Cornyn, losing by about 12 points.
- GA (B): Another prominent Republican endorses Collins, as incumbent Loeffler continues to lose support.
STATES & LOCAL
- NC gov: Same Civiqs poll has Dem incumbent Cooper up 53-44 on GOPer Forest.
- Analysis of Dem chances of flipping the PA Senate (tl;dr - not great).
- Crystal ball looks at races for governor (everyone outside of MT looks pretty safe) and state legislatures.
ODDS & ENDS
- Btw, not covering all of the changes in voting dates and procedures and stuff. Some important things there, but just too much to cover.
